Who doesn’t love apple pie? Here is a great way to get in “mock apple pie” and still feel very satisfied with flavor and portions size. Besides, apple pies are full of sugar and fat; this apple pie smoothie is healthy, low in fat and calories. Apples are loaded with fiber to help you feel full and they provide a good dose of antioxidants and vitamins. There are some studies to suggest apples may protect against osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s disease. A diet rich in apples may help prevent certain types of cancers, too. For the pumpkin pie green smoothie, you will find loads of Vitamin C and the smoothie is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidant vitamins!

Apple Pie Smoothie

Apple Pie Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 Red Delicious apples, cored
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup pecans *optional
  • 8 ounces of almond milk, soy milk, or cashew milk

Directions:
Place milk in the blender. Add the fruit and remaining ingredients. Add ice as desired and you have a delicious, nutritious smoothie.

Pumpkin Pie Green Smoothie (Raw and Vegan)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw pumpkin, cubed (can be soaked overnight to reduce starchiness) or ½ cup canned pumpkin
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond, soy, or cashew milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 banana, peeled
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ carrot
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach, washed

Directions:
Mix ingredients in a strong blender, and blend on high. Additional milk may be used if the smoothie is too thick.
