Market Basket proudly announces the complete renovation and remodeling of their Lavaca store near Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Not only has the inside of the store been remodeled to reflect
“Cardinal Pride,” the outside of the store also displays that same pride in Lamar University. The most popular part of the newly remodeled location is the all-new Market Basket Smokehouse, providing fresh sausage and boudain made and smoked right there on location. “When the smokers are going, the customers start coming in. . .it’s amazing!” said Greg Stockman, store manager.
“As a company and community partner we continue to look for ways to improve our Market Basket stores at every location and enthusiastically display ‘Big Red’ on the exterior of our Lavaca location,” said Skylar Thompson, President. “We are excited to offer a host of new products and services to the local community and neighborhood.”
The newly remodeled Lavaca store in Beaumont’s south end near Lamar University has a brand new poduce department featuring unique produce displays, a complete deli with hot lunch or dinner meals-to-go and the popular rotisserie chickens, a bright and neatly organized frozen-food section, and a butcher-block meat department serving your favorite cuts.
Market Basket was co-founded in 1961 by Bruce and Alletta Thompson and celebrated their 50th anniversary as a family owned and operated independent grocer in 2011. In August of that same year, they continued their growth with the opening of a new Leesville, LA store. Then in mid-November, Market Basket purchased a small four-store chain of supermarkets named Big Star, with locations in West-Central Louisiana. “We are excited about our continued growth and the opportunity to extend our services to additional markets in Texas and Louisiana,” commented Skylar. “Completion of new stores, purchase of additional stores in new areas and remodeling of existing Market Basket locations shows our commitment to continued growth and excellence of service to our customers.”
