Learn to stretch calories by eating plenty of vegetables! Because vegetables are low in calories, and high in fiber (helps you feel full) and nutrition, you can eat plenty of them without taking in too many calories. Market Basket’s produce department has pre-made salads, snack veggie packs, and plenty of fresh vegetables to choose from. Besides eating vegetables, keep your calories in check by adding the following heart healthy foods to your eating plan: fruits, low fat dairy products, lean meats (eggs included) and seafood, healthy fats, and whole grain starchy foods.
Weight loss tip! – To lose one pound of body fat, it’s necessary to give up 3500 calories. Give up 500 calories a day, for one week, and you’ve given up 3500 calories! Set your weekly weight-loss goal, and determine how many calories you will need to give up to reach this goal – 2 pounds or less per week – is recommended for best results.
