Practice goal-setting to avoid holiday weight gain. The most well-planned menu can easily be derailed during the holidays. To get from December to January without gaining weight, set small, specific goals. How do you plan to maintain your weight? Write down what you weigh today, and what you expect to weigh on January 2nd. Next, what action-plans will you take to maintain the weight? For example, your action-plan may be: “I will go to the Supermarket every Sunday to stock up on healthy foods for the week. I’ll also purchase some pre-made salad bowls – and be aware of how many calories are in each.”
Maintaining your weight through the holidays can be done. Keep your kitchen stocked with low-calorie meals and snacks to help balance your daily calorie intake – especially when you are enjoying a few holiday treats – in moderation!
