Oh my, holiday parties and portion distortion, will you let this get to your waist-line? Market Basket offers a variety of party platters that are sure to help you keep calories in check, decrease cravings and help you feel more satisfied at holiday events. Check out our party meat platters, and vegetable or fruit trays. Watch out for the dips that come with vegetable and fruit trays. These dips can pack as many as 200 calories for a very small serving. Try substituting original dips with fat-free sour cream and yogurt based dips or hummus. These types of snacks are very, very low in carbohydrates, and avoiding high carbohydrate party foods will save many calories.

Holiday Fruit Dip

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. light, non-fat strawberry yogurt
  • ½ cup fat-free cool whip
  • ¼ cup fat-free sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together, chill and serve.

Serving size: 2 tablespoons
*17 calories per tablespoon (plus calories from fruit)

Lemon Dip

(use for fruit or graham crackers)

  • (3) 8-oz. containers of light non-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1 tub Crystal Light Lemon flavor drink mix

Directions:
Mix yogurt and drink mix well until blended. Serve with fruit or graham crackers.

Serving size: 2 tablespoons
*15 calories per serving (plus calories from fruit or crackers)

Guacamole and hummus are good dips and low in calories if portion controlled for small servings.
