The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to providing consumers with clearly labeled and independently verified non-GMO choices. Does this seal mean no genetic modification of food products? Product manufacturers are allowed to use this seal when they follow particular practices to ensure their foods avoid using GMO’s; it does not always mean 100% Non-GMO. Companies can be tested during any phase of product growth and production. In general, companies work very hard to earn this seal and will follow Non-GMO practices at every stage of food production. In addition to the Non-GMO Project, consumers can learn and become more active in Non-GMO projects by visiting The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT) website at ResponsibleTechnology.org. The IRT is a world leader in educating policy makers and the public about genetically modified foods and crops.
